In Memory of Our De-Paw-ted Friend I & II

Created by pets saved in Slidell, LA in the aftermath of Katrina Brought to us by SNUGGLE (MO) In the weeks following the devastation created during Hurricane Katrina, thousands of pets were left stranded, sick & dying. Many animal welfare groups from around the country came to their aid, including SNUGGLE (Special Needs Under Gentle Guided Love Everyday). Volunteers from SNUGGLE spent 6 ½ weeks rescuing pets in Slidell, LA. In the rush to evacuate, many people were forced to leave their pets behind. SNUGGLE helped by going home to home & breaking in doors to get to stranded, hungry, sick pets who had been trapped for up to 2 weeks inside homes. Volunteers recalled 2 dogs trapped inside a home for 10 days where the water level inside had been 3 feet from the ceiling. Miraculously, they had survived & were rescued by SNUGGLE. Not all of the pets had been that lucky though. There were too many times that occurred when volunteers had arrived to late to help. Volunteers from SNUGGLE rescued & gave medical treatment to as many pets as they could. After being nursed back to health, some of these pets helped to created the two artworks you see here today by painting with their paws, tails & sometimes noses! While the devastation caused to animals from Hurricane Katrina was terrible, these dogs only had to endure limited hardship compared to the dogs living in puppy mills. Puppy mill breeding dogs will spend their entire life in deplorable conditions, never knowing love from their human masters. We saved pets during Hurricane Katrina. The time is now to save pets from the horrors of puppy mills. SNUGGLE accepts companion animals that require specialized care because of extraordinary health & developmental challenges which animal organizations and individuals cannot afford to treat. Since SNUGGLE is staffed by volunteers, every dollar donated is used to help animals in need.Contact SNUGGLE at 636-441-1728 or www.snuggle-petrescue.com
