Artist Statement: "This photo of "Spanky" was taken during the seizure of 10 dogs from a residence in Cape Girardeau County, 09/27/08. This is what I saw when I first walked into the clearing where seven of these dogs were chained to trees. There were three four-month old puppies housed together in what could only be described as a rabbit hutch.
