Beyond the Horizon, Across the Divide II
Exhibition Dates: June 21 - Aug 1, 2019

An all media juried exhibit exploring the concept of travel.

The theme refers to the concept of travel: what we see, where we go, what we experience. Artists were encouraged to include scenes from their own travels (areas outside of Missouri and Illinois) or images/pieces that describe for the viewer a concept related to travel (maps, compasses, etc.) What does travel mean to you? Where does it take you?

Juror's Statement:  The notion of travel, the idea of a destination, a journey to a new landscape can be a catalyst for informing a piece of artwork. When faced with so many great pieces, I used a criterion for judging work based on craftsmanship, a unique viewpoint which could be expressed by composition, area of focus, overall vision and concept, and the X-factor that makes a compelling image. How does it grab your attention? Does it create a sense of space? My selections are reflective of current and past art traditions, of observational response, abstract or conceptual based work, hybrid media, folk art, and direct painting and drawing. Overall, an extensive amount of talent is exhibited here. Enjoy the show!  ~ Ahzad Bogosian  (June 2019)
