Can I have framing orders shipped?

Yes.  We use the following shipping companies: USPS, UPS, & DHL

If you live in the St Louis Area You can choose local delivery, also.

Local Delivery in St Charles County, MO $ 10.00

Local Delivery  in St Louis Metropolitan area $15.00

 

What types of materials do you use for framing?

All of our frame styles are made of polystyrene. Polystyrene is a composite plastic which is lighter and more economical than wood and metal. By using Polystyrene, we can achieve the look of woods and metals without the high cost and can pass that savings onto our customers.

For our shields, we choose to use only 3/16" acrylic. It is lighter and safer for your artwork. Glass shatters easily and will damage your artwork if broken. Acrylic can crack if dropped, but usually there is very little damage if any to the artwork it is covering. It is important to use only acrylic cleaners to care for your framed pieces. We highly recommend the use of a soft cloth and Novus Acrylic cleaner to care for products purchased from Framations.

All artwork is mounted on non-archival fome-cor. Unless specified otherwise, we will glue your print to the fome-cor and then press it (this process is called wet-mounting). It ensures that the image lays flat in your frame.

If you chose to have your prints matted, we use crescent mat board, custom cut to size. The mat board is considered decorator quality and is not archival.

What type of items will you frame?

We predominantly frame posters, prints,photos and stretched canvas.

Framations is a decorative custom frame shop. If you wish to have your item framed archivally, we recommend you take it somewhere else! Our framing is designed for people who want to decorate their home or office on a budget.... not for people who want to pass down the item from generation to generation or for those who want the piece to appreciate in value.

Our maximum liability for damage is $100.00.

At this time, we do not make shadowboxes.

How long will it take to have my artwork framed?

Special Value Frame styles are in stock and generally take 1-3 days to process.  If need sooner please call us at 314-616-7225 and depending on volume, you may be able to pick up same day.

Our Custom Framing Selections are by special order and  may take up to 2-3 weeks.

Why should I choose to ship my posters or prints to you for framing?

There are three reasons why you should ship your prints to Framations!

1.) We offer professional wet mounting at no extra charge!

              Wet mounting provides a permanent, smooth look to your posters!  In the wet mount process, the poster is glued to the fome-cor backing and vacuum pressed. This process greatly improves the overall look of the framing. Large prints (over 16x20) have a tendancy to wave or bubble over time due to the effects of gravity. Wet mounting eliminates this sagging in your print. Posters that have dimples or curl will benifit from being wet mounted. (If the poster has tears or the paper backing is showing thru, this will still show, but it will look better than prior mounting)

2.) We will power seal the framing shut!

             Power sealing the framing adds extra durability & lifespan to the framing. We also seal the backing using framers tape, giving your frame extra protection against dust.

3.) You will get your artwork back ready to hang on the wall!

            Just unpack and you are ready to hang! No fussing with trying to insert your item into the frame. No cleaning the inside acrylic because dust keeps getting inside. You won't have to attch hardware for hanging. The only tools you'll need are a hammer and nails to hang your art on the wall!

When would I NOT ship my print to Framations?

Please do NOT ship us your print if any of the following conditions apply:

     - Your print is irreplacable to you!  Insurance is great, but it cannot replace a one of a kind item. Our maximum liability per item is $100.00. You must have a valid receipt for the item. If no receipt is available, our maximum liablility is $25.00. Framations is NOT responsible for damage inccured during shipping.

     - You believe your poster /print will appreciate in value. (The framing materials shown on this website are decorative grade. This means that they are NOT archival ) If you are keeping artwork as an investment...please invest in the archival framing. Our frames are meant for decorating. Signed &/or numbered pieces may or may not appreciate in value.... but you should be the judge of how it is framed. If you just want it to look pretty on the wall for the next 20 years, by all means, have us frame it and save a lot of money. BUT, if you want to pass the artwork down from generation to generation, please contact us about conservation framing.

    

What is the best way to ship my poster to you?

For images over 11x14, please roll your poster and insert into a sturdy mailing tube.These can be purchased many places. (The post office, UPS Store, Fed-ex Kinkos,etc.)

For images 11x14 & under, use a sturdy photo mailer.These can be purchased many places. (The post office, UPS Store, Fed-ex Kinkos,etc.)

Make sure the package is securely sealed.

We HIGHLY RECCOMEND insuring your items with your carrier. Framations is not responsible for lost or received damaged items. If using a service like USPS, delivery confrimation is well worth the $0.55 cents.

Do you accept returns on framing?

We do not accept returns on custom framing orders.

However, if your order was not framed to specifications or has a defect, we will gladly redo your order at no additional charge.

How long before I receive my order?
      Framations processes and ships orders within 1 to 2 business days of receipt. All orders are shipped via UPS (estimated time for delivery is 7-10 days). Orders outside the continental U.S. delivery time will depend upon the type of shipping service  specified and your location. Please Email us for quote on time.

How much will my shipping costs be?

All gift shop orders shipping within the United States will be sent UPS ground service. Shipping rates can be viewed during checkout.

For orders shipping to outside the United States, Please email us for shipping quotes and estimated delivery time

All shipping costs include insurance and professional packaging.

Do you accept returns?

We guarantee that the product will arrive in good condition or we will return the full purchase price of the product not including shipping.

       You may return an item for refund or replacement within 14 days of the shipment date. Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable. All returns must be accompanied by the packing slip. When you return an item, follow the instructions on the packing slip, and most importantly, please indicate the reason for the return. You may want to insure your return; we cannot be responsible for lost or misdirected returns. If you paid for your order by credit card, a credit will be issued and will appear on your billing statement.

What conditions apply on returns?

MERCHANDISE RETURN AUTHORIZATION

AUTHORIZATION FOR RETURN OR REPLACEMENT
To obtain Amy's Animal  Alcove's authorization to return a defective item for refund or replacement, simply email us at  framations@earthlink.net  withim 14 days of receipt.

CONDITIONS
Non-defective merchandise must meet the following conditions to qualify for return acceptance.

 

a.       Merchandise must be in its original minimum inner pack quantity, as shipped by Framations. Broken quantity inner packs are not returnable.

b.       Sample items are not returnable.

c.       Merchandise, merchandise packaging, and inner pack must bear no markings or be otherwise defaced or damaged.

Returns which do not meet the conditions described in this return policy will be returned and shipping cost of return will be charged.

ITEMS WITH GUARANTEES OR WARRANTIES
If a purchased item includes a product guarantee or warranty, follow the instructions on the guarantee or warranty for repair or replacement.

ITEMS DAMAGED DURING SHIPMENT
All merchandise damaged during shipment is covered by the shipper. If you receive merchandise damaged during shipping, please contact us at framations@earthlink.net  within 30 days of the date of shipment of your order, and your claim will be processed immediately. NOTE: Established procedures by UPS, U.S.Parcel Post, and trucking lines, must be complied with or they may deny your claim.

My order has been lost. I need it now. Can't you just send a duplicate?

UPS, Parcel Post, and trucking firms will not accept any responsibility for hardships caused by lost shipments. We regret that we cannot assist you in this manner. We suggest you place and pay for a duplicate order. When the carrier validates your claim, we will credit your account or send a refund check at your request.

What are the products made of?

Polyresin is a stone-based material which can be intricately molded producing great detail, and will allow paint to adhere. These items may be cleaned by dusting, however, they should not be washed with water as they are painted with water soluble paints.

Bone China is white clay with bone ash added. Bone ash content must be at least 25% by U. S. guidelines. Fired at 1800 degrees. The translucent material is finished with a glaze or underglaze (matte). Lighter, stronger, more expensive than porcelain.

Porcelain  is fine ground white clay, molded and fired in an oven for eight hours at 1200 degrees. Finished with a glazed, underglazed, or "bisque" finish. Glazing produces a high gloss; underglaze produces a matte finish. Bisque is a matte finish without glaze. After finishing, the item is "cooked" for six hours at 800 degrees.

Jade porcelain is a type of porcelain made with a finer clay. Usually no glaze or only a colorless glaze will be applied at the final firing to show off the very smooth surface and to preserve the translucency. Example: 27112. Jade Porcelain is used for night lights because of its high degree of translucency when lit.

 Stoneware   White clay with fine ground stone.  Working with stoneware demands great expertise, and is in fact becoming a lost art. Stoneware is safe to use in microwave and conventional ovens.

Patchwork Items    Unique fabric or paper prints are applied to the surface of porcelain, dolomite or polyresin items. After application, 12 layers of lacquer are added and the item is hand polished to a high gloss between each layer.

Hong Tze  To closely emulate a special stone found in China which is known for its deep red color, these items are created using an alabastrite polyresin. Hong Tze pieces are highly polished, further bringing out the intense, deep red color.

Frosted Acrylic  Acrylic items are given the French Lilac process, (used on glass), to achieve the distinctive frosted look. Example: 27205. The drama of frosted glass without the weight.

Gypsum is a white mineral which is usually used to make Plaster of Paris.

Dolomite A magnesia-rich, sedimentary rock resembling limestone, dolomite is either gray, pink or white in color.
