Juror's Statement:
I would like to thank all the artists that submitted to this exhibition, and Framations for allowing me to be a part of the process. For me, jurying exhibits are challenging yet fulfilling endeavors. As a practicing artist, I understand the investment one makes in the process. It is for that reason that I congratulate all of you that submitted. It takes courage to create and additional courage to subject one’s work to review. I allowed the theme of the show Drawing Attention to steer my selection process. I asked myself if I was attentive to the work and whether the work stirred or captured my interest. The fact that some works did so and other works did not is a reflection of the subjective nature of this practice. I was interested in works that showed evidence of concept, imagination, authenticity and/or technical ability.
It is my aesthetic to hang a show with fewer works -- the whole less-is-more approach. But this was a difficult process due to the number of quality submissions. In the end, I did pare down a substantial body, hopefully allowing for each work to have its own space to exist. I congratulate those whose work was included and whose work won an award.  Again, I thank you all for allowing me the opportunity to experience your art. I will close with this quote from the late Susan Sontag.
“Attention is vitality. It connects you with others. It makes you eager. Stay eager.”
Kind regards, Michael Behle
