Tom Skeen

Former Framations resident artist, Tom Skeen, passed away December 29, 2010 at the age of 56. Here at Framations, we had the joy of getting to know Tom over the years & considered him not only a resident artist here at Framations, but also and most importantly, a dear friend.  We are thankful for the time he shared with us, and will miss him always. He leaves behind a photographc legacy and we are blessed to be able to see the world as Tom did thru his photography.

Thomas Alvin Skeen, 56, was born April 13, 1954 in St. Louis, MO and is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Leslie Skeen; daughter Maureen Farrell and husband James; son John Skeen and his fiancee Amy; grandchildren Louis and Lilla Farrell and one on the way; brother Mike Skeen and wife Beth; and sister Patty Hickman and husband Billy.

Tom was born, raised and lived in St. Louis, MO until 1 ½ years ago when he and Leslie moved to The Woodlands, TX to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He was a member of Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in The Woodlands, TX. Tom had a passion for photography since he got his first camera at the age of 13. Tom had many award winning photographs, was president of The Woodlands Photography Club and a valued member of several other photography clubs and groups. Tom had an extraordinary eye for the beauty surrounding him and generously shared that through his photography. Some of his most beautiful work were his portraits of his grandchildren, to whom he was a loving grandpa, caregiver and playmate.

Tom was also an athlete, especially in his younger years. He was a competitive raquetball player, runner and a cyclist when he was younger and continued cycling long into his later years. He also loved watching sports - especially the Tour de France, tennis and football. He loved nature and animals and was most at home taking pictures of eagles in Illinois and Missouri or at the zoo in St. Louis.

Thomas was devoted to his family and friends, always willing to go out of his way to help someone. He had a wonderful sense of humor and ready smile and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
