It is a nonprofit organization with professsional and nonprofessional members, holding exhibitions throughout St. Louis area. The AWA meets monthly at the First Congregational Church in Webster Groves. At each meeting, a program is provided with an artists demonstration. These programs include all types of media, such as oil and acrylic, watercolor, pastel, drawing, sculpture and jewelry making.

Artwork by Joan Frericks: "I have always been interested in art, but began painting at age 35, taking classes with various instructors in the area. I began using the medium of oil but in 1994 I rededicated my art efforts using the medium of watercolor. I was President of the Northside Art Association for 10 years, a signature member of the St. Louis Watercolor Soceity and the Missouri Watercolor Society. My work can be viewed at the Gallery, 8182 Maryland, Clayton, MO."     Jewelry by Karen Eimer: "I was born and raised in St. Louis. I currently live in Hillsboro, Missouri with my husband and three children ages 5, 3 and 1. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I was a hair stylist. Designing and creating jewelry enables me to use those same artistic skills while having the benefit of being home with my children."       Along the Katy Trail by Gloria Gewinner-Ide: "I received a degree in fine art and design and work in oil, and water mediums. I have participated in juried shows and have been published in books and periodicals. I’m a signature member of the St. Louis Watercolor Society, a Distinguished Member of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild, member of the Missouri Watercolor Society and President of the Art World Association.

View Over the Balustrade by William R. Ide: "After obtaining a fine arts degree from Southern Illinois University, I have been exhibiting in the surrounding area of St. Louis and County for many years. I have received awards in painting, drawing, and print. Currently, I’m a member of Art World Association, and in the Art Section of St. Louis Artists’ Guild."       Birds and Flowers by Dee Moran-Zey: "I have been painting and drawing pictures and portraits since the age of six. In the seventh grade I drew pictures on the black board for the good sisters of the Sacred Heart School. Then toward the end of WWII I had fun in art classes at Washington University Fine Arts. I’m still painting portraits and just about everything else, loving life and having fun at age eighty-two."       Artwork by Geale Windeyer-Irwin: "I was well into my forties before I actually started drawing. Sketching with various figure-drawing groups initiated me into the challenging world of actually “doing art.” The element of color is a dominant factor in my paintings. Shapes and their interrelationships may form the foundation of a painting, but for me, color is its heart, its splendor and sometimes, its raison d’etre. "
