An art exhibition raising awareness about the realities of puppy mills
In the following video tour, artists from Pennsylvania & Missouri give insight into their thoughts on puppy mills and their artworks created for the "Puppies are Biodegradable" exhibit. This exhibit ran at the Framations Art Gallery in St Charles, MO, the Ron Berg Gallery in Kansas City, MO, and the capitol building in Jefferson City, MO. The exhibit benefitted the Missouri Alliance for Animal Legislation to help educate & fight puppy mills in Missouri.
Originally inspired by the Pennsylvania FUEL Gallery's exhibition, this touring art exhibit features combined works by Pennsylvania Artists & Missouri Artists joined by one theme...creating an educational exhibit showcasing the plight of dogs in our states' puppy mills. For more information about the Missouri Tour of the "Puppies are Biodegradeable" exhibit, please contact the gallery thru Framations.com or call 636-724-8313. The Following video contains footage of a Missouri Kennel that meets & exceeds the requirements by law governing breeding kennels in the State of Missouri.
Missouri produces more puppies for pet shops than any other state. In fact, they produce almost as many puppies as all other states combined. One of the reasons that Missouri puppy mills flourish is that they are endorsed and promoted by the Missouri Department of Agriculture. You can read all about the Missouri Blue Ribbon Kennel Program
on the Missouri Department of Agriculture's website at this URL. http://www.mda.mo.gov/brk/index.htm
Now, an exclusive from PetShopPuppies, Inc., go inside a Missouri Blue Ribbon Kennel, "Missouri's Elite Puppy Program," and see what it means to be the best!
Note: While we commend the Blue Ribbon Kennels for exceeding industry standards, we think it is important to inform the pet shop customer of the kind of life these dogs live. The cages you will see are where these dogs live 24 hours a day for the rest of their lives. They are never taken out for exercise or interaction with people. Wire floors allow the feces and urine to fall through the cage; automatic feeders allow food to be given to dogs from outside the cage; automatic waterers also allow the dogs to be watered from outside the cage. They must lick a small metal ball repeatedly to release one drop of water at a time.
These minimum standards of care make it possible for a breeder to almost completely avoid touching the dogs except 2-3 times a year when they vaccinate/deworm, when they are placing dogs together for breeding and when a female whelps puppies.
