About the Juror:
     Anne Burgess Rowe received an Associate of Arts degree from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute, where she was a Thomas Hart Benton Scholar. A member of the Washington Society of Portrait Artists and the American Society of Portrait Artists, she has completed numerous commissions for corporate, political, educational and religious figures as well as for families and individuals. Anne Rowe has been honored as guest artist in a number of one woman shows across the country.

     In addition to teaching figure drawing and portraiture, Anne Rowe has written and illustrated two books for children. In her community of St. Louis, Missouri, she is active in local arts organizations, volunteering her time and energy to promoting and supporting the visual arts. She works especially for art and educational programs which benefit and encourage youth. You can view Anne’s work as well as her experience as a professional portrait artist on her website.

Juror's Statement:
     "My criteria for judging this show was as follows: strong image; thoughtful content; understanding and use of the chosen media; presentation that does justice to the work; and (for paintings, drawings and printmaking) use of photography as a tool, not a crutch."
