Colors of Nature in Abstraction: A Solo Exhibition by Linda Abernathy
Exhibition Dates: Oct 22, 2022 – Jan 3, 2023
This exhibit explores the beauty of nature. The oil paintings include several techniques of abstracting landscapes with layers of color and blending with scrapers and palette knife to achieve depth and texture. The artist explores mixing cold wax and oil paints to enhance the fusion of complementary and contrasting colors on the canvas.

Throughout her life, Linda Abernathy has enjoyed painting as a way of self-expression. She explored new techniques of mixing cold wax and oil paints to achieve vivid colors and texture in her paintings. The process of painting is more important to her than just applying paint to a canvas. It is about conveying a message to the viewer.

Linda is an active of the art community in St. Louis and Jefferson County. She serves as the Vice President of Greater St. Louis Artists. She is a member of the Jefferson County Art Guild. Her painting,  Mansion on Water’s Edge, was selected to be included in the Show Me State Bicentennial Art Exhibit that toured the State of Missouri. Also, her paintings have been accepted in numerous art exhibits at Framations Art Gallery and Soulard Art Gallery. (Resume)
