 I have always had a love for arts and crafts growing up. I would find turtles and paint them and set them free. I would paint anything that did not move. I never had any kind of training or schooling in art. All the art I have done has been self-taught. I have done judged and juried shows and a few of my own artist shows and have done many commissioned pieces and wall murals.
When I was in my early 20’s, I walked into a Michaels Craft store and bought a box of pastels. After practicing and reading books about how to use pastels. I made a pastel print that I entered it into an amateur show at the St. Charles Artist Guild and won 1 st place. From that day on I was hooked. I dabbled in acrylics, pastels, watercolor and oils and found at the end the day acrylics were for me. I have spent many years painting, learning and playing with textures and mastering my skill. When I paint, I paint for myself. I paint what I like and what makes me happy. I find if anyone buys my work or just enjoys what I create than that is just a bonus.
My real job has been Property Management for the past 30 plus years. Despite the stress of my career and life, through a combination of color, texture and creativity, I find creating art to be a huge stress reliever.
